Right-wing says Piers Morgan’s cryptic post signals a Britain’s Got Talent comeback

Reports suggest Piers Morgan could return as a guest judge for Britain’s Got Talent’s 20th anniversary. His emoji responses have prompted speculation, while no official casting announcement has been made.

Piers Morgan has stirred fresh speculation about a return to Britain’s Got Talent, but the evidence so far is a series of deliberately ambiguous responses rather than an announcement from ITV or the programme’s producers.

Morgan, who judged the talent competition from its 2007 launch until 2010, responded with an eyes emoji to a report that familiar figures could return for the show’s 20th anniversary. The report said producers were considering bringing him in as a guest judge for January auditions, alongside the existing panel, and cited a source saying: “A 20th anniversary extravaganza is in the works.”

Susanna Reid, Morgan’s former Good Morning Britain co-host, added to the intrigue after saying she had asked him directly about the reports. His reply was a laughing emoji, she said, before observing: “Then I noticed that he wasn’t denying it.” Reid suggested Morgan was happy to keep the conversation alive and argued that his earlier spell on the panel coincided with the programme’s strongest appeal.

The two accounts broadly point in the same direction: Morgan’s online reaction has encouraged expectations of a comeback, and a guest appearance is being discussed as part of the anniversary plans. Both, however, rely on inference and unnamed-source reporting rather than a confirmed booking.

Morgan has previously indicated he would consider returning under certain circumstances. He left in 2010 to focus on his CNN programme, and later said a reunion would be most appealing if Simon Cowell were involved. The anniversary concept could also include former contestants such as Susan Boyle and Paul Potts, according to the reports, turning the celebration into a broader look back at the show’s early years.
