Keir Starmer firebomber kicked out of Britain after suspected Russian plot

A convicted arsonist who targeted Sir Keir Starmer's home in a suspected Russian plot has been kicked out of Britain. Ukrainian-born Romanian national, Stanislav Carpiuc, 28, and Ukrainian, Roman Lavrynovych, 22, were hired to set alight the former prime minister's constituency home, a car he once used and a flat in Islington linked to Sir Keir. The two stooges were found guilty of conspiring with others to damage property by fire and jailed earlier this year. Carpiuc was sentenced to two years and Lavrynovych to seven years at the Old Bailey on June 19.

TL;DR

  • Stanislav Carpiuc, a Ukrainian-born Romanian national, has been deported from the UK.
  • Carpiuc and Roman Lavrynovych were convicted of conspiring to damage property by fire, targeting homes and a car linked to Keir Starmer.
  • The judge described Lavrynovych as a 'useful idiot' recruited by a Russian-speaking Telegram user named 'EL'.
  • Carpiuc played a coordinating role, handling payments and encouraging Lavrynovych.
  • A BBC investigation linked the 'EL' Telegram account to the son of a senior Russian official, with allegations that Russian diplomat Evgeny Lyukshin masterminded the plot.
  • Petro Pochynok, who was asked to help, was acquitted as the judge found he did not know the plan.
  • Carpiuc was reportedly motivated partly by a desire to help Lavrynovych raise money for his father's medical treatment and was not promised significant financial reward.
  • The Home Office stated that the conviction and imprisonment send a clear message to those blinded by money from strangers.
