The event, in which the Monarch is accompanied by Queen Camilla and other members of the Royal Family, will kick off from around 8pm this evening at Windsor Castle.
TL;DR
- King Charles is hosting a state banquet for the Sultan of Oman at Windsor Castle.
- Senior working royals, including Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, will attend.
- Prince Harry's recent interview, discussing his wish for family reconciliation, is seen as a 'distraction' from the event.
- The banquet menu includes Scottish langoustine, Cornish crab, Windsor pheasant, and baked Alaskas.
- The post-banquet drink is a non-alcoholic cocktail inspired by the Omani ritual of 'Kahwa'.
- Decorations include pomegranates from a tree planted by the late Duke of Edinburgh.
- The salt on the table is imprinted with the King's royal cypher for the first time.
