Right-wing says Harry puts reconciliation with Charles and William first

Prince Harry says he wants to repair strained family ties while reclaiming control over his public story. Reports also frame his grief over Diana and his children’s future as central to his return to Britain.

Prince Harry has renewed his appeal for reconciliation with King Charles and Prince William, casting the rift as a family problem with wider resonance rather than a dispute he wants to prolong.

In a wide-ranging interview with GQ, Harry said he grieves the relationships he once had with his father and brother. He described disagreements between siblings and between parents and children as “massively relatable,” before making his own position clear: “Some people don't want it to work out. I want it to work out.”

He argued that reconciliation should take precedence over continued conflict, saying: “With everything else that's going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile.” Harry acknowledged that “scars stick around forever,” but urged a focus on moving beyond past harm where possible.

The same interview also framed his public comments as an effort to regain agency over accounts of his life. Harry said he had been criticised for speaking publicly while others were free to give their version of events. “Just by telling my own story, it takes away a lot of power from other people,” he said.

His reflections on family sit alongside a more personal account of loss. Harry said he thinks about his mother, Princess Diana, “almost every day,” wondering how both the world and his own family might have differed had she survived. He said he sometimes feels a continuing connection to her and her “energy” at pivotal moments.

Reporting on the interview says the Sussexes’ return to the UK was influenced partly by the importance Harry places on Archie and Lilibet’s education. Separately, another report suggests that any effort to repair relations should proceed gradually, even as Harry reiterates that he wants a reconciliation.
