Delta Goodrem returns to Strictly with recovery and ambition in balance

Delta Goodrem resumed her Strictly Come Dancing campaign after a fractured rib, pairing a cautious, medically managed comeback with her determination to remain competitive.

Delta Goodrem returned to the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom after missing a week with a fractured rib, bringing the contest’s usual competitive pressure into tension with a recovery that she says must be handled day by day.

One account emphasised Goodrem’s determination to continue pursuing the Glitterball despite not being fully fit. The singer said she had followed medical guidance, checked in daily with the programme’s physiotherapy team and been strapped up before training. “I am a fighter — I’ve got a fighting spirit,” she said, while adding that she needed to act responsibly as she learned to manage an unfamiliar injury.

That report also stressed the practical changes behind the comeback. Goodrem and professional partner Kai Widdrington had limited rehearsal time, and Widdrington said the rumba had been altered to avoid movements that could aggravate her rib. “We are not going to go out there and do some crazy lifts and some crazy back bends” that put strain on the injury, he said.

A second account focused more on the personal and visual side of the return: Goodrem was cleared by doctors, performed a rumba to Celine Dion’s It’s All Coming Back To Me Now, and considered adding sparkle to her bandages. “Do you think we could bedazzle?” she joked during a fitting.

The two accounts converge on her determination, but differ in emphasis. One presents a measured campaign to remain competitive, including hopes of eventually regaining full fitness; the other highlights her patience during recovery and the morale she draws from supporters. In an Instagram message cited by the latter, Goodrem said she was “taking things carefully and learning to appreciate the small steps.”
