Rollercoasters get new safety feature after man fell 200ft to his death
The chief executive of Six Flags has announced the company will fit a new safety feature on the Georgia roller coaster from which a rider plummeted to his death earlier this month. The safety upgrade will also be applied to other company rides with comparable restraints.

TL;DR
- Six Flags will add seat belts to the Goliath roller coaster and others with similar restraints.
- The decision follows the fatal fall of Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem from the Goliath coaster on October 12.
- Eight additional coasters across five parks have been temporarily closed.
- All affected rides were manufactured by Bolliger and Mabillard and feature clamshell restraints.
- Independent engineers and inspectors are assessing safety procedures across all Six Flags parks.
- SeaWorld Orlando and La Ronde also temporarily closed coasters with clamshell restraints.
