Only Fools and Horses star Nicholas Lyndhurst's famous grandfather
Nicholas Lyndhurst is widely considered a national treasure, thanks to his long-running role as Rodney Trotter, the hapless younger brother of Derek "Del Boy" Trotter in Only Fools and Horses. A comedic tour de force, the 65-year-old may have found fame in the 80s, but his family was already well-known in certain circles, thanks to the pioneering work of his grandfather, Francis Lyndhurst. Born in 1878, Francis established an impressive career as a scenic artist before bringing filmmaking to Shoreham in the early 1900s. After shooting around four or five films in the region, the producer and director eventually set up a glass studio by Shoreham Beach.
